Maestro is awarded a scholarship to study at the Rouen Conservatoire in France.
Guitarist and conductor Gui Santos, 37, from Rio Claro-SP, is an award-winning conductor at the Claude Brendel Academy. The event, given by French conductor Claude Brendel, took place from 7 to 20 July 2024 and welcomed many participants from different nationalities, focusing on the training and improvement of musicians (instrumentalists and conductors).
Guilherme had the opportunity to conduct the second movement (Chocolat Noir) of Maxime GOULET’s Chocolats Symphoniques at the closing concert on 19 July, a first for Brazil and Latin America.
Together with conductors Olga Dutra and Edna Miranda, the conductor was one of the three to be awarded a scholarship by Maestro Claude Brendel to study at the Rouen Conservatoire in France. ‘Being awarded this invitation to the Rouen Conservatoire is the fulfilment of a dream, a milestone in my musical career. (…) And this achievement is a big step in my career, I’m very excited and looking forward to what lies ahead,’ says Gui Santos.
This was the 6th edition of the Claude Brendel Academy, which takes place every year in the city of Brasilia – DF, and has already awarded prizes to conductors and instrumentalists who have had the opportunity to study and specialise in one of France’s most respected conservatories.
